So I’ve been in Australia for just over 1 month!
I have met some amazing people, had some great food, taken many trips to the beach and had some epic nights out. Its safe to say I have not had a boring day yet!
So far, my favourite part of Newcastle is the beach. I have just had my wetsuit delivered and can not wait to try out the surf over here. Even though its definitely not bikini weather, its usually around 24 degrees everyday. Newcastle is also perfectly placed so that I can take regular trips into Sydney.

Here is a photo I took last weekend when I joined some other students from Leeds University on a party boat around Sydney Harbour.
With other students from Leeds I also attended Autonomy day. This is an event hosted by the University of Newcastle to celebrate 52 years since UON was declared autonomous from the University of New South Wales. The University bar opens up and it is an all day party with a silent disco and 2 DJ sets.
BlackButt Nature Reserve is a small reserve in our local area with a small variety of wildlife and woodland treks through New Lambton bushland. We took a trip here and saw our first Australian Koalas and Kangaroos as well as getting up close with a very confident Kookaburra.
We also took a trip to Nelson Bay. We had breakfast in Port Stephens which is a small harbour town, the cafe was called Nice, and I tucked into some smashed avocado and bacon on sourdough before hiking up Mount Tomaree. It was a pretty windy day but the views were still incredible.
Overall it has been a great month spent with some great people.
